The Reuters Institute has reported on research into the media and AI in the UK and the USA:

Long story short: it’s biased. (Who knew?)
In a nutshell, most of the AI experts that journalists turn to are (a) in industry rather than the ones who are cited by peers in academia, and (b) are men.
It’s good to have the research, but I’m tempted to respond in the same way a girl of 14 did when I spoke to her parents:
Me: I’ve just read a report that says girls have a larger proportion of their brain devoted to literacy than boys do.
Girl: I think we all knew that.
