We would most likely see a significant increase in the number of users and students worldwide seamlessly incorporating technology into education. The year 2018 may also see developments of new education-related technology capable of accommodating and adapting to various educational needs and requirements.
Specifically pertaining to AR/VR technology, we believe they will inevitably enjoy a surge in popularity as their prevalence and presence continue to rise in various fields and industries including education. The properties of AR/VR technology will allow for a more interactive and immersive way of transferring knowledge since scalability is no longer an issue.
What do you think will be the main ed tech challenges in 2018?
Since education-related technology relies heavily on internet accessibility, perhaps one of the biggest challenges would be providing adequate and evenly distributed internet access and gadgets to learners living in underdeveloped countries.
Secondly, a good education-related technology would mean finding that balance between effectively imparting knowledge as well as providing a fun platform to retain students’ interest and curiosity. It’s a delicate balancing act that is undoubtedly not easy to achieve.
Finally, making edtech accessible to most students is a challenge of its own, since the cost associated with education-related technology can be quite high.
