The Digital Skills Crisis
The Science and Technology Committee in England has published a report stating there's a digital skills crisis.
One of the problems flagged up on the Parliament news page is that:
"only 35% of computer teachers in schools have a relevant degree and 30% of the required number of computer science teachers have not been recruited"
I wrote about the latter point in a post entitled: 5 Reasons There Is A Shortage Of Computing At School Master Teachers, And What We Can Do About It, which first appeared in the Digital Education newsletter.
Anyway, I haven't read the report yet so I'll comment no further for now. The links to it are on the Parliament news page given earlier.
You might also find the articles concerning Kay Sawbridge quite interesting. Kay was very instrumental in bringing the ICT crisis in schools to the attention of the Committee.
