Bett Bulletin: Life-sized augmented reality
As I reported in my Bett ‘heads up’ bulletin, Discovery Education has launched an AR app called SandboxAR. It makes things appear life-sized.
I hadn’t realised that the LGfL was involved, providing content. (The LGfL is the National Grid for Learning. That may suggest that somebody was a bit challenged in the spelling department, but the far less exciting truth is that the LGfL used to be the London grid etc, but a few years ago it went national, and decided to keep its widely-recognised initials.)
Anyway, it all looks pretty exciting. Looking at the video of the app in use with prehistoric images certainly got me shaking all over, as Johnny Kidd and the Pirates put it, though for very different reasons.
Anyway, to find out about the app, there’s information on the Discovery Education website, and to find out about its potential in schools, including interviews with teachers, see the LGfL immersion website.
